Summary: An oral history with Mr. Ung Canh Bui, a refugee and boat person of the Vietnam War. The interview’s beginning focus is on Ung’s life and the hardships he faced as a child growing up in poverty during the War. This interview then focused on his experience during the Vietnam War to the fall of Saigon as an officer of the Air Force and how the war affected him and his family. Ung describes his journey to America and his transition from a Vietnamese to a first generation Vietnamese American.
