Description
Scope/Content: An oral history with Ms. Loan Thuy Tran, born on August 13, 1972 in Saigon, Vietnam. She discusses her memories in Vietnam as a little girl after the fall of Saigon and how she left in 1978 by boat and stayed at a refugee camp in Bangkok, Thailand. In 1979, through family sponsorship, she came to the United States, roaming from city to city all over Orange County, California. She discusses the hardship of growing up in the United States while being raised in a strict, traditional Vietnamese family and living in a very wealthy, Americanized community. After high school, she worked different jobs to support her family. She has two daughters and a grandchild. Currently, she resides in Garden Grove, CA with her husband and is self-employed with an online business. Material restricted until 2035-06-02.
Scope/Content: This recording is from the Vietnamese American Experience Class Oral Histories, 2015 Spring subcollection.
