Description
Scope/Content: A crowd of 5,000 witnessed the graduation of UCI's charter class at ceremonies in the Campus Park (now Aldrich Park), Saturday, June 14. Degrees were conferred on 738, including 568 bachelors, 75 masters, 75 doctors of medicine, and 20 doctors of philosophy. In addition to Charles S. Thomas and Thomas H. Kuchel, Kenneth Bancroft Clark, scientist, and H. Northrop Frye, man of letters, also received honorary degrees.
