Description
Scope/Content: Mr. Khoan Huu Le, a retired Boeing engineer arrived in the United States as a Vietnamese boat refugee. He was born in Long Xuyen, Vietnam in 1940. The interview is focuses on four major events in Mr. Le’s life, beginning with his early education and career path as a teacher in French education system, followed by his experiences during the war and communist occupation, his experiences as a refugee, and finally re-establishment in the United States. Scope/Content: The objective of this project is to collect voluntary life narratives of Vietnamese American senior citizens living in The Grove Senior Apartments (Garden Grove, Calif.). Along with these audio-recorded life stories, we collected materials such as photographs and documents to be indexed and archived with their stories in UC Irvine Libraries Southeast Asian Archive, as part of the Vietnamese American Oral History Project.
